The shoulder straps have been fully redesigned. They are ergonomically shaped to better adapt to the wearer's body and padded with 0.75" foam for ultimate comfort. The chest strap is no independent from the shoulder straps (can't lose it!), but instead is connected to the shoulder straps and slides along their length.
The inside panel on the Beco Baby carrier brings a major safety advantage. The biggest is that the baby can no longer fall or slip out of the carrier when the waist belt buckle opens. It also means a very safe back carry with babies as young as 3 months old (or when neck/head control is acquired). The infant could be first in the front carry and then simply switched to the wearers back, much like a backpack. The baby can also be passed from one wearer to another without being removed from the carrier.
The Beco Baby Carrier retains its unique inner harness that helps take the fear factor out of doing back carries and enables one person to hand baby and carrier off to another, but incorporates some updates that make the Beco Carrier even more functional:
- The sleeping hood design is greatly improved. It snaps on, rather than threading on with nylon webbing. Also, it's contoured rather than flat, and should fit a snoozing baby's head much better.
- There are two more inches of padding in the shoulder straps. This is a suggestion had made to Beco to improve the fit for bigger people
- The infant insert is now removable. So if you're wearing the Beco Baby Carrier with a bigger baby, you can just take out the infant insert and stash it somewhere safe.
- This isn't really a functional issue, but the carrier is now made in the USA This is important to many consumers.
